The work "Letter to My Mother," manifested in a platform adorned with an animated pattern of lips made from woodcut prints—a projection on a vibrating platform, reminiscent of the mat on which we once sat together to learn the art of lip-reading. This creation allows people to feel words through the resonance of vibration, establishing a tangible connection to the silent language of the lips. The challenge of incorporating sounds into my animations despite my inability to hear prompted a collaborative effort with animator Joel Benjamin. In our exploration, we analyzed sound waves in the After Effects software, seeking a method to bridge the auditory gap. The quest to understand sound through vibration led to the innovative concept of a "Vibration platform," allowing me to study the nuances of sound through tactile sensation. This not only expanded the expressive depth of my work but also highlighted the intricate interplay between vibration, visuals, and auditory experience.
